AI Behavioral Design Studio

Interstitial
Studios

Designing the spaces where humans and AI meet.

The layer
between intent
and response

Interstitial Studios is an AI behavioral design practice focused on the architecture of how AI systems think, speak, respond, and relate to the humans they serve.

We work in the space most teams overlook — not the interface, not the model, but the behavioral layer between them: persona systems, conversation architecture, guardrails, multi-agent orchestration, and the logic that governs how AI behaves when it matters most.

Founded by a designer with 20+ years of experience across major media, enterprise, and emerging technology — and an MFA focused on the intersection of intelligence and human experience.

Practice
01

Behavioral Architecture

Designing how AI systems think, decide, escalate, and hold limits. The invisible layer that determines whether AI earns trust.

02

Persona & Voice Systems

Multi-agent orchestration, persona design, and tone frameworks that create coherent AI identity across modalities and contexts.

03

Conversation Design

End-to-end dialogue architecture — from intent mapping to graceful failure — for enterprise AI, education, and consumer products.

04

Safety & Guardrails

Behavioral constraints that protect users without breaking experience. Designed for humans, not just engineers.

05

Consent Layer Design

Designing AI consent as an ongoing behavioral relationship — not a checkbox. Built for compliance, experienced as care.

06

Ambient & Post-Screen AI

Behavioral frameworks for AI that lives beyond the interface — spatial, voice-first, and always-on systems.

The territory
nobody has mapped yet

The next decade of AI design belongs to practitioners who work in the spaces between — between disciplines, between modalities, between what AI does and what humans need it to be.

I Behavioral design for ambient AI When there is no screen, behavior is everything. Designing AI that exists in space, in your ear, in the room.
II Consent as a design material Not legal fine print. A behavioral relationship between human and AI, designed in real time.
III Designing AI failure Graceful, honest, human-centered breakdown. How AI systems fail without breaking trust.
IV Agent-to-agent social dynamics The behavioral design of how AI agents defer, contradict, and build on each other.
V Post-screen behavioral vocabulary Rebuilding the entire language of AI behavior for spatial computing, voice, and embodied systems.
